My interest of the outdoors started when I was a kid growing up on the North Fork and Bryant Creek.  Many summer days on the rivers fueled my initial interest in water resources. Now, I am looking to help protect the water resources of the Ozarks.

Besides the experience of living near the river, I previously worked for a Missouri Department of Conservation stream sampling team that traveled the state to sample small wadable streams.  This gave me a good idea of the diversity of streams in Missouri and what a special place the Ozarks are.   I am also a student at Missouri State University working toward my bachelor’s degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology.  Between life and work experience and education I want to work at protecting our water resources.

The AmeriCorps Stream Team Program is designed to do just that.  I joined to meet new people in the field of protecting our water.  I fortunately met just the right people at the Watershed Committee of the Ozarks, a non-for-profit whose mission is to protect and preserve Springfield’s drinking water sources.

After my service with the AmeriCorps Stream Team Program, I plan to finish my degree at MSU.  Then I plan to continue looking for ways to enjoy, protect, and preserve our wonderful water resources here in Missouri.
