Event Name: WATERFEST 2008

Event Description: WATERFEST 2008 is a free to the public one day festival celebrating water quality awareness and raising funds for Jasper County Water Watchers, also known as Stream Team 3320. Free musical entertainment will be provided by a miramba band, Kufara. Visit the educational booths for all ages along with environmentally friendly activities, including the envirascape and the envirathon trunk. A play area will be set up on Festival grounds including a rock climbing wall! Test your knowledge with insect I.D. games and the "Brain Gauge". Learn more about fly fishing with MAKO, a local fly tying club. Hourly raffles are going to be held, with the last raffle of a grand prize. If your Stream Team wishes to be a part of WATERFEST, contact us for application and demonstrator information. If your team has won awards in the past, please feel free to bring them to show to the public. The more the merrier! So, bring your chairs and a raffle item (if you wish) and get ready for a fun filled educational day in the park! From I-44 go north on Hwy 71 to the Carthage/Webb City exit. Turn right and drive through town. Follow the left hand curve and cross 2 bridges. Look for the park on the right side of the highway. There will be parking and directional volunteers.
Event Name: 10th Annual Jacks Fork River Cleanup

Event Description: This is the tenth Anniversary of the Jacks Fork River Cleanup! We are inviting everyone to come down to this beautiful Ozarks stream and help us celebrate a decade of clean water and beautiful scenery. There will be a Bar-B-Q afterwards and a drawing for lots of thank you gifts for all participants. LOCATIONS FOR CLEANUP Baptist to Cedargrove (8 slow miles) low water conditions! Cedargrove to Akers (8 miles) Akers to Pulltite (10 miles) Pulltite to Round Spring (10 miles) Or you may cleanup a put-in/take out area such as Tan Vat, Baptist, Parker Ford, Cedargrove, Flying W, Welch Spring, Akers, Pulltite, Sinking Creek, Round Spring, or Jerktail. Event Name: Northfork and Bryant Creek Cleanup

Event Description: Overnight camping will be available on the 15th and 16th. We will leave Sunburst by 0900 on the 16th for sections of the Northfork River and Bryant Creek. Event Name: Race for the Rivers

Event Description: Two events for clean water: Race for the Rivers: Serious canoeists and kayakers will be in a stiff competition to complete 65 beautiful miles along the Missouri River. The race starts in Washington, Missouri with a break at the Race for the Rivers Festival in Frontier Park. The second day will be a sprint to Columbia Bottoms at the Confluence. Clean Water Challenge: Experienced canoeists and kayakers will compete for speed and accuracy as they travel 20 scenic miles of the Missouri River from Weldon Spring to Frontier Park. Throughout the journey there will be a number of tasks including assisting in water quality monitoring along the way. Come along, learn, race and support clean water initiatives. This race will be run with the cooperation of the Missouri Department of Conservation. Race for the Rivers Festival: Be on hand at Frontier Park when the paddlers arrive Saturday afternoon. On hand will be adventure and outdoor sports vendors and environmental educational displays and activities. This is where the Clean Water Challenge racers will report the results of their water quality monitoring and where you can get up to date information from the leader boards. Meet the racers and get an up-close look at what it takes to be a competitive paddler. Between the live bands, the hands-on art and environmental activities and the educational displays the festival will be a great place to hang out and wait for the racers to cross the flying finish line at the park.For more info go to http://www.racefortherivers.org/
