Our Commitment to Accessibility

Missouri Stream Team is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to people with disabilities. We are actively working to improve the experience for all users and to meet the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1, Level AA.

Conformance Status

We are currently working toward conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. A technical accessibility audit (automated phase) was completed on March 9, 2026. We identified several issues and have committed to resolving them within the timelines outlined below.

Known Issues and Remediation Commitments

The following accessibility issues were identified in our automated audit and are being actively addressed. All of the issues below will be remediated by June 1, 2026 (within 60 days of the audit date).

  • Informative images missing text descriptions — affects 3 newsletter pages. Under review; alt text will be added after manual confirmation of image context.
  • Hidden page sections containing focusable links — affects 3 newsletter pages. A template-level fix will be applied by our developer.
  • Links with no readable text — affects 2 pages (Annual Reports, Event Calendar). Fixes will be applied to page content and, where applicable, reported to the embedded calendar provider.
  • Insufficient text color contrast — affects the Event Calendar page. Colors will be corrected in the page settings or via the CalendarWiz calendar provider.
  • Embedded calendar frame missing an accessible title — affects the Event Calendar page. A title attribute will be added to the embedded calendar frame.
  • Prohibited ARIA attribute on Staff page image link — affects the Staff page. A developer will correct the ARIA markup.
  • Visual heading not coded as a heading — affects the Resources for Classroom Use page. Heading markup will be corrected in the page editor after manual verification.

Upcoming: Manual and Screen Reader Testing

Automated testing identifies code-level issues, but not all accessibility barriers can be found by automated tools. Manual testing — including keyboard-only navigation, screen reader testing, and color contrast verification under real viewing conditions — will be completed by April 9, 2026.

This Accessibility Statement will be updated on that date to reflect any additional findings identified through manual testing. Issues discovered through manual testing will be remediated by June 8, 2026 (within 60 days of the statement update).

Statement Date and Review Schedule

This statement was prepared on April 2, 2026, following completion of the automated accessibility audit. It will be reviewed and updated by April 9, 2026, following completion of manual testing. Ongoing reviews will be conducted annually (next review: April 9, 2027) or following significant changes to the website.

A Note on Ongoing Accessibility

Web accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time achievement. Websites change continuously — new content is added, platforms are updated, and third-party tools evolve — which means that complete conformance at any given moment is not always achievable. What matters is that accessibility is treated as a genuine, sustained priority: fixing known issues promptly, building accessible habits into everyday content work, and responding openly to feedback from users with disabilities.
